About Me
Hello, I'm Sarah Griffiths MBACP, a qualified Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) Gestalt Counselling practitioner and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).Supporting people through life's challenges is something I feel genuinely privileged to do. I am passionate about helping individuals discover their own strengths, develop self-awareness, and become the best version of themselves in a way that feels authentic and achievable.Alongside my professional training, I bring valuable life experience, empathy and understanding to my work. I appreciate that everyone's story is different, and I believe each person deserves to be met with kindness, respect and genuine acceptance.I am committed to ongoing professional development, continually expanding my knowledge and skills to ensure I provide the highest standard of care for my clients.
My Approach
What is Gestalt Counselling?
Gestalt Counselling focuses on increasing awareness of your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and experiences in the present moment. Rather than simply focusing on the past, Gestalt therapy helps you understand how your current patterns may be affecting your wellbeing today.By developing greater awareness, you can begin to recognise unhelpful patterns, process unresolved emotions, and make choices that support healthier, more fulfilling ways of living.Gestalt therapy encourages authenticity, self-awareness and personal growth, helping you reconnect with yourself and build confidence in who you are.
A Person-Centred Approach
At the heart of my work is a person-centred philosophy. This means I believe you are the expert in your own life.My role is not to tell you what to do but to walk alongside you, offering empathy, acceptance and understanding within a safe therapeutic relationship. Together, we create a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, helping you discover your own answers and move towards positive change.
Creative Ways of Working
Every client is unique, and there is no "one size fits all" approach to counselling.Where appropriate, I can integrate a range of therapeutic techniques into our work together, including:
- Sand tray therapy
- Two-chair work
- Creative exercises
- Drawing and visual expression
- Therapeutic worksheets
- Drawing on CBT informed techniques
- Guided reflection
- Talking therapyThese approaches are always used collaboratively and only when they feel appropriate for you and your therapeutic goals.
Areas I Can Support
If what you're experiencing isn't listed above, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We can discuss whether counselling may be right for you.
Working With Children, Young People & Adults
I work with children, young people and adults, adapting my therapeutic approach to meet each person's age, needs, personality and individual circumstances. No two people experience life in the same way, so I believe therapy should never be the same for everyone. Whether you prefer simply talking, exploring emotions creatively, or using practical strategies, we will work together to find an approach that feels right for you.
A Safe & Confidential Space
Beginning counselling can feel like a significant step, and it's important that you feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and compassionate space where you can speak openly, knowing you will be listened to with warmth, respect and understanding.Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my practice, allowing you to explore whatever is important to you without fear of criticism or judgement.
Professional Membership
As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. This means I am committed to ethical, professional practice centred around the wellbeing of every client.
